Linwood Elementary School Reviews

Wonderful school! The entire staff is great. With in weeks a majority of the school knew my daughter by name. Everyone is friendly and professional. Lots of activities for the kids. Open communication between parents and teachers, they keep everyone up to date on the school happenings well. I love the Parent and Child Time for the pre-schoolers. Wish we were staying here longer, because of the school.

Linwood Elementary was the best school my children ever attended. The staff and administration is very caring and attentive. If there was a problem, the teachers always contacted me immediately and helped resolve the problem. Now we have moved and they attend other schools. In my opinion, no other school compares. It's a great school.

Great school. After only a couple of months everyone I had regular contact with recognized me and knew my child by name. He is a normally clingy child but feels so comfortable at this school he requested I drop him off at drive up. Shcool uses an agenda book for grades k up to send daily notes and reports of behavior home to parents as well as providing a place for questions to the teacher. When son was in Pre-K there were opportunities for parent involvement several times each month. I am now relocating and the only thing I will really miss about this town is this school.

We moved here from Washington, D.C. and this school is wonderful! The teachers are great and have helped my children catch up to where they are supposed to be. The staff is very professional and courteous. Ms. Gillis has the most patience of any person I know. This schools is a great place for fun and learning.

Linwood Elementry is a great school. We came from New Mexico 3 years ago, were my kids attended to a private school and when we arrive to Georgia our main concern was that our kids were not going to get the same education as they did in NM. Linwood staff have done a great job in proving themself to be wonderfull. They really work with the children to ensure the children are getting the proper education they need. Teachers encourage the children not just to be at their level academically, but to also strive to be better. That combined with the wonderfull and loving staff they have, makes Linwood a great place to be. Mrs. Gillis, the principal, is a great person and I enjoy walking into the school and seeing her beautifull smile welcoming every one. KUDOS to Mrs. Webb, Mrs Adams, Mrs Osbern and Mrs. Bridges. Mr.and Mrs. Stephenson

We transfer from Woodmen Roberts Elementary in Colorado, for us this school is a living nightmare. Special education services take forever. There are no educational field trips, no acurate feed back on kids performance until you ask for it, holidays activities does not exist. I will advice to look for other choices before enrolling your kids here.

I definitely feel this school is outstanding! My children have attended Linwood for three years now. If I have ever had a concern, the teachers have been very open to working with us. My son is a special needs student and this has usually been an obstacle in other schools. I did have one problem with the speech teacher but her boss took extremely good care of us and gave my son the education he needed. The administration is excellent, as well. Mrs. Gillis and Mrs. Casilli go out of their way every day for the kids. The office staff is probably the best staff I've ever known and being a military wife I think that says a lot. Please stop by Linwood if you are moving to the area. They have a lot to offer and are very compassionate people. Mrs. Carroll October 2004

I have 2 children in attendance at this school. I have to say that the administration leaves a lot to be desired. I am, however, very pleased with most of the teachers and other staff. With that said, I feel it's only fair to say that I took my son out of first grade after the first month and home schooled him. Last year, my son was in 2nd grade and my daughter in the pre-k program. We were very pleased with the teachers they had. All in all, I wish I had a better school to send my children to, though I'm not impressed with Georgia in general.

I am very dissapointed in how this school operates, there were many issues with my child attending this school. One they are so far behind a normal military education system that my child became bored with his studies and all they did was try to blame it on ADD and said he needed drugs. My child was constantly bullied and did consult his teachers and they did nothing of it. They don't even celebrate halloween! They don't let kids be kids and celebrate all the holidays. They pass it off like every other day.

My children attended this school for 3 years. I became very dissapointed with the administration but the office staff was very friendly and helpful. Some of the teachers are honest hardworking individuals but some of the others need to realize that they make or break what children think of education. Being caring is what they need to do. Out of the 3 diffrent teachers my son had only his third grade teacher made me happy he attended there. There is obvious discrimination against some of the students. I would never enroll my children in this school again.

I have been greatly disappointed in the this school. It has continued to decline in the the 2 years my children have attended and has reached a point I feel they are no longer recieving a decent education. Most of the teachers are hard working, however the leadership from the administration is driving the good teachers away. I will not be sending my children back in the fall.

My daughter was recently a student at Linwood for a year. We were not happy with the level of education there. The curriculum was about a year behind the Illinois school that we transferred from. My child became very bored. I had to supplement her education at home. I also had problems with inappropriate religious discussions initiated by two teachers. I also thought the office staff and the principal were not friendly.

Overall this school provides comparative education at least at the 5th grade level. Hard-working, honest, and caring teachers are the core of this school. The programs and parent involvement could use some improvement. I found nothing outstanding about this school.

Staff at Linwood seem to respond faster to e-mails than to phone calls. Some teachers tend to forget that this is a childs foundation as to how they look at school from that moment on. That they are that young children not little adults.

This was a DOD school that now falls under Houston County. The documented student enrollment is incorrect. The student populace is actually over 400 students. I also believe the free lunch stats are incorrect. This school is about 65-70% military dependent students. The principal and instructional coordinator made our move to the school a wonderful experience. This elem. school has a lot to offer, it is definitely a diamond in the rough. The teachers are very caring, and do their best to make the learning process comprehensible and enjoyable. To ensure our children's safety, the school district runs a thorough background check on every volunteer or personnel working closely around the students. My only suggestions would be seating/bleachers in the gym for assembly and special functions, this may improve parent attendance. The school has a wonderful process for student departure and pick-up, offers after school tutoring and daycare, an effective behavior management program ensuring our children's safety and a pleasant learning and working environment. This school has a lot to offer and welcomes any suggestions, and parent involvement because their is always room for improvement as the schhol expands. If you're new to the area, don't forget to stop by Lindwood Elementary. The school and staff offer a pleasant learning environment. As I stated earlier, this school is a diamond in the rough..let us show you how the Lindwood leopards leap over all boundaries and do their best to meet any and all requirements and expectations.
