The Westfield Schools Reviews

I am an alum of Westfield and a parent of two current students. WHS provides the best level of academics in our area. Look at our ITBS and SAT scores. The best thing we have going for us is that we don't have to leave God at the gate. The only problem that I have with WHS is that many people involved with school leadership, parents, students, faculty, and admistration, are pompus and promote a materialistic environment and a culture of conspicuous consumption on the campus and in the social environment surrounding the school. This can be found in every area of the school, social and otherwise. Case and point, student uniforms were vetoed because so many people wanted to continue to show off their mode of attire, including teachers. Our area of greatest weakness at WHS is personal pride and vanity.

Too many people at Westfield underestimate the power of our christain environment and its effect on the students . Westftield does not only promote a great education but also self growth through their weekly assemblies with insirational speakers and the school spirit at sporting events , westfield is a great place making great leaders.

I graduated from WHS and then headed to an elite college. For me, WHS is tops! Westfield is academically challenging and pushes you to be your best. While it may be difficult for a mid-level student, for those who want to and are able to push themselves academically, Westfield cannot be topped! I would not trade my time at Westfield for any amount of money, and constantly thank my parents for the financial sacrifices they made in order to keep me there. I am so proud to be a Hornet and would recommend it to anyone!

Many parents and student take for granted the oppurtunities we have here at westfield. From our college prep classes to our christain enviorment we have a close family bond that makes the educational experience incredible. I moved from out of state and could not be happier with my attendance at westfield nor could i dream of going to highschool anywhere else . Anyone who thinks we are suffering at westfeild just needs to look at whats outside Perry ga and what other kids have to learn in

Westfield is by far not inferior to any macon school . We have students attend top notch colleges every year . Every student at westfield is gifted . Anyone who is dissipointed in our wonderful highschool should take a trip to surrounding public schools

Quality Education through the fifth grade. All down hill from there. WHS is losing more and more quality teachers every year. The board and administrtion have lost sight of what is important in education. Very sad.

I am an alumni of Westfield. I attended Westfield from K-12. The elementary program is second to none. It is truly the best in this area! Although I attended school at Westfield from K-12, I left the school feeling like an outsider. [Cliques are] alive and well in the halls of the middle school and high school.

I moved from out of state with three children. Westfield has been an excellent experience. The school has a strong extra curricular program that provides opportunity for all children to get involved. The Christian environment, small classes, and strong academic program is the backbone of the school. It is what I expect from an independent school.

I am currently a high school student at the Westfield Schools. I believe that the school school has an excellent elementary and middle school program. The high school, however, is a complete mess. There is too much homework given out, and the majority of the teachers are terrible. On a normal night homework can take between 2-5 hours. Our math department is awful too. I have been going to Westfield since kindergarten. All of best friends go to school here too, but I want out.

As a Westfield alumni, I think my opinion would be more accurate than the parent of a pre-schooler. Don't get me wrong the elementary and middle schools are great, but things fall apart at the high school level. The school has not produced an alumni to any prestigious college/university in years. Check Statford/FPD/Mount De Sales and see the difference. The math department is horrible. Many of the admistration are on a power trip and should have retired years ago. The school has had several principle transitions. Problems are not handled well. There needs to be a mandatory SAT Prep program and more extracicular classes should be offered. The quality of teachers is poor but with private/public school salary differenes in a small town good teachers are hard to come by.

Our son attended Pre-K at Westfield and my wife and I were pleased with the school. Regretfully, he cannot attend 5K due to our moving to another city. He is currently enrolled in 5K public school. They are teaching the same things he learned in Pre-K at Westfield. Academics are top notch and we felt like our child was safe. Westfield even involved the Pre-K classes in varsity pep rallies and many other school events. The only negative thing that I have to say about Westfield is that the other parents seemed very cliquish and we seemed to be excluded because we were not from Perry. Very high academic standards are expected of every child in a christian environment.

The Westfield Schools has an outstanding reputation as a school of excellence in a Christian environment. It also provides an excellent extra curricular program in sports, music, and drama. As has been stated, it isn't perfect. No school is. There's always room for improvements. But the school does strive to recognize its shortcomings, while continuing to strive to make the school the best it can be in every way possible. *One note...it would be nice to see a band program for middle and high school*, as well as a middle school chorus. Academically, Westfield is superb!

Westfield Schools are NOT inferior to any Macon area private schools. That criticism is completely baseless, as is the comments by those who criticize the teachers at Westfield. Academics at Westfield are outstanding! One need only look at the test scores for proof. The school is not perfect. But then no school is. There is always room for improvement at any school. Westfield is no exception. One concern:Conduct issues should be addressed as readily as those of an academic nature. Though most children at Westfield are well-behaved, there are always exceptions, as kids will be kids. There should be more emphasis placed on expecting the students at Westfield schools to conduct themselves in a Christ-like manner. Harassment, teasing, name calling etc., for example, should never be tolerated. Bottom line...the school definitely gets a thumbs up from me. Its strengths far outweigh any weaknesses.

My child attends Westfield and I feel that there are three main issues that the school needs to work on. Number one-The school handles problems in a poor manner. Number two-Teachers are terrible and do not provide the children with good information (except for around 4 or 5). Number 3-Falls under the category of 'handling problems poorly.' I feel that the administration is awful, with the exception of the headmaster.

The academics at Westfield is inferior to other private schools, especially in the Macon area. When compared to FPD or Mount de Sales, Westfield is lacking in all of the categories. My child was taken out because the quality of the school was so low.

I would not send your children to Westfield. Students and Parents often do not have a say in what goes on at Westfield. Conflicts within the school are not handled correctly and the administration has made some unwise dicisions as far as the future of the school.

We have been Westfield parents for 5 years and have found it to be an excellent experience for our 2 elementary age kids. The teachers and administration are committed, caring, and responsive to parent concerns. We are especially pleased that our Christian values are often genuinely reinforced in an atmosphere of academic excellence.

Westfield is absolutely a wonderful learning environment for children. The Staff and Faculty are very helpful and encourage parental involvement at every level. Extra curricular activities are excellent!
